CROSSWALK BULLETIN NOTES AND ACTIVITIES:

Upcoming Events

CrossWalk's Annual Baptism Class - Starts August 17
CrossWalk baptism celebration on September 13 is a great opportunity to mark the beginning of your new journey through the Biblical practice of baptism. This class is a place where you can take time to decide and prepare. You will be able to voice your questions, doubts, insights, and faith as we search for the answers together. We would be honored to have you become a member of the family of God with whom we can dream, organize, and work together to make this world a better place.  Anyone who is considering baptism wants to commit to God and join the adventure of learning to be a great lover of God, people, and life. All members of CrossWalk are baptized by the practice of immersion instituted by Jesus Christ.
A series of four different classes will be offered each at 2 separate times, plan on attending all 4 classes.  Below are the different classes available.

CROSSWALK AT BARNES AND NOBLE
During the month of August we will be reading four books and pulling the theme from each book into the sermon. Reading these in advance will enhance your Sabbath morning experience. Often Jesus would take the stories of his day and find the meaning of God in them. Many of the parables Jesus told were current best sellers of the time. So in the same way Jesus engaged in the culture around him, we too follow in his steps. Take some time this summer to read and be inspired.

MINI FILM FESTIVAL
To be creative may be the primary way we are made in the image of God.  CrossWalk’s Digital Video Media Event (DV-ME) has been a success, and we want to invite you to watch our mini film festival.  We will have a potluck lunch in the ‘Big Room’ right after second service on August 16.  We ask you to please bring enough food for 10 people.  This is a great opportunity for you to see just how creative your fellow CrossWalkers are.

90 MINUTE MISSION TRIP
Join us this Sunday, August 17, at 8:30 am or 10:00 am and spend 90 minutes helping improve LLUMC’s after-school site in the Norton Neighborhoods, called “Norton Gardens” also called “Eastside Adventist Mission.”  We’re at 948 E. Norman Road in San Bernardino, just 2.5 miles from the hospital.  Easiest way to get there? Go north from the 10 Freeway on Waterman till you pass Orange Show Road.  Then take the next right, Norman Road, and go to the end. (If you get to Central Ave, you’ve gone too far on Waterman)  We’ll be painting, building, tutoring neighborhood children, planting, building a cross-country track, repairing bicycles, and
several other activities.  We’ll serve bagels, muffins, and juice, and a local business donates $10 to the program for each hour you volunteer.  See our weekly schedule at: www.healthycities.com.  Call Ron Graybill at 909-910-9339 for information, or if you’re lost or late.  This is an activity the whole family can be involved in.

BEACH VESPERS NEW LOCATION
Join us at Huntington Beach for beach vespers on Saturday, August 23 from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm.  It’s an evening of food, friendship, inspiration and s’mores. The food starts at 5:00 pm and vespers at 7:00 pm. Come early to play volleyball and other beach games then help start the fire pits and watch the sunset.  Enjoy a tasteful BBQ, sing songs and make new friends.  What a way to end a busy week in the midst of crashing waves and laughter.  Directions: 91 West to the 55 South, merge onto the 405 North.  Exit Euclid and turn right, stay straight to go onto Ellis Ave., turn left onto Beach Blvd.  Stay straight on Beach Blvd which dead ends into the HUNTINGTON CITY BEACH parking lot.  You will see Zach’s Shack if you are in the right place.  Look for the “CrossWalk signs” between tower 17 and the Huntington Pier.  If you get lost, you can call Christianne at 951-662-9383.

MEALS FOR NEW MOM’S
What better way to practice “learning to love well” than helping a new mom with a meal?  Our community is currently experiencing a baby boom and we are in need of more people to bring food.  Just one
meal a month is a big help; if you can do more, that’s great!  Use the “Cooks for Meals 4 Moms”
list in the Information Center to sign up.  If you’re expecting, please let us know by filling
out an “Expectant Parents” form so we can plan your meals!

CROSSWALK MEMBERSHIP
We can not fulfill our mission alone as individuals. We are a church because God wants us to be and do something together. With our unified diversity, we weave a biblically functioning community that exists
for the purpose of being an agent of God’s Kingdom. Although we do have attendees and visitors
for whom CrossWalk is a safe place to walk in their spiritual journey and seek God, it is members
who form the core of CrossWalk. We are not just an organization, but a spiritual family in which
members belong to each other and actively participate in the community life. Our mission is to
be a learning church that grows in love that is sacrificial, thoughtful, effective, and persistent. If you
resonate with these goals and want to be an integral part of the adventure become a member. God
has made you to belong to community where you can make an impact with your ideas, your gifts,
your energy, and even your vote , as you share with others the ways you understand and live with God.
To become a member, visit the Information Center and fill out a Membership Request Card.
